With over 1.7 billion users, Facebook is already the largest social network on the planet. In recent months, Facebook has been attempting to attract even more users (and compete with Snapchat) by expanding its video capabilities—most notably, by launching Facebook Live, “Lifestage,” and Facebook Messenger video calling features—and inviting popular social media stars to create content exclusive to Facebook. In lieu of the network’s gradual shift from a social networking site to a video-focused content distribution platform, a number of digital influencers have chosen to make Facebook their platform of choice and, as a result, earned millions of new followers along the way.
