Facebook’s Branded Content Tool Is A Must-Use For Brands

Branded content utilizes content as a way to promote or advertise for a brand. Branded content can represent a variety of marketing materials ranging from white papers, online YouTube videos, blog posts, and Instagram photos. Today, branded content is everywhere. The rise of social media and influencer marketing has made it impossible for brands to avoid branded content. Moreover, the recent FTC crackdown on branded content has revealed many related consumer issues such as transparency.

Increased attention to branded content has led brands and advertising platforms, especially social media websites, to be more cognizant of ethical consumer advertising practices, especially in influencer marketing. Specifically, brands and their partners need to include proper disclosure techniques. Facebook, in particular, has revamped its website and advertising tools for brands and their partners to give marketers a tool for their branded content.

The Best Snapchat Influencer Marketing Tactics

5 Best Influencer Marketing Tactics: Snapchat Edition

Due to Snapchat's evolution, demographic, and user experience, marketers must approach Snapchat differently than other popular social media platforms. Snapchat first gained widespread traction in 2011 as the social media messaging app with instantly disappearing content. This core functionality coupled with its initial user base helped shape how the app was (and largely still is) used—sharing in-the-moment photos and videos with close friends. Since users are required to manually enter other users' Snapchat handles to view their content, Snapchat influencer marketing campaigns can see high levels of engagement and conversion (as following other users on Snapchat is arduous, following another user usually means that one is committed to watching and engaging with their content on a daily basis).

While Snapchat has evolved much since then, the way its 150M user base use and approach the social media app is much the same. Brands seeking to advertise effectively on Snapchat and leverage Snapchat's high viewing and engagement rates towards marketing objectives need to keep the above-mentioned elements in mind. Collaborating with social media influencers on Snapchat marketing campaigns can help brands advertise successfully by leveraging each influencer's established following on Snapchat.

Google Purchases Influencer Marketing Platform FameBit To Better Connect Creators & Advertisers

On October 11, 2016, Google acquired FameBit for an undisclosed amount (rumored to be $15M). FameBit, an influencer marketing platform, previously raised an undisclosed seed round in September 2013 and subsequently $1.5M in another seed round summer of 2014 from Third Wave Digital (and its founder Allen DeBovoise), Silicon Valley venture capital firm and startup accelerator 500 Startups, and Science (also an investor in Dollar Shave Club and DogVacay), among others.

Google's FameBit purchase is a significant event for the influencer marketing industry—the tech giant's acquisition of its first influencer marketing outfit not only marks the industry's immense growth and popularity, but also influencer marketing's viability as a core strategy and channel for advertisers, social media apps and networks, and its ecosystem of millions of social media influencers, fans, and followers—all things Google is keen to be a part of.
